The Bloomfield Parking Authority (BPA) was established by ordinance in 2004 by the Township Council of Bloomfield pursuant to the Parking Authority Law, N.J.S.A. 40:11A. The Township Council appointed a Board of Parking Commissioners to set policy and establish goals to evolve parking availability and enforcement to better serve our residents and customers.
BPA is responsible for managing all municipal metered and permit-based parking throughout the Township. The BPA is also responsible for the enforcement of applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations as to the parking of vehicles.
On a daily basis, the BPA strives to improve parking in Bloomfield by providing well maintained, clean, and safe parking options for residents, businesses, and visitors.
BPA Commissioners are also responsible for creating parking solutions that support economic growth and redevelopment. The BPA’s Lackawanna Parking Garage is a cornerstone of the planned redevelopment at Glenwood Village. In all, the Glenwood Village project is a three-acre transit village that in addition to the parking garage will contain 50,000 square feet of retail space, 10,000 square feet of restaurant space, and 224 residential units.
The Board of Commissioners of the BPA meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the BPA offices located at 230 Broad Street. The Schedule of Meetings can be found under the Meetings page. Any changes to this schedule can be found under the Announcements section.
